You Cannot Make This Sh!t Up

Glenn Grothman, the Wisconsin State Senator, life-long bachelor who lives with his mum, introduced a bill last week to amend state statutes regarding the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board.

Grothman's bill will require the CANPB to "emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect."

Got that single moms?

Glenn Grothman is using a state agency to advertise to the public that non-married or single parents contribute to child abuse and neglect...in fact under his bill he requires it.

Now first, the Siren will point out statistically the rate of child abuse is higher in single parent households...and if that alone was the primary reason for child abuse - we could end it today.

Just require everyone to get married.

But it isn't and that is why Grothman is such a screwball and his bill is insulting a lot of Wisconsinites.

Poverty is a big contributor to potential child abuse, very big. A lot of single mom's are poor. Stress and isolation are very big contributors. A lot of single mom's are isolated and under enormous stress. Households who own guns have a higher rate of violence, households in more dangerous neighborhoods have higher rate of violence...previous violence, substance abuse on and on - but Grothman focuses solely on marital status.

Is the Siren the only one who wonders if Grothman's own marital status hasn't made him a bit....bitter?
